I thought I’d share with you some of the products that I use for skincare, hair care and general beauty. Its important to take care of your skin as its the largest organ in our body. What you eat and drink has a strong correlation to the health and appearance of your skin. A plant based diet has been proven to rid the skin of pimples, redness and inflammation over time. This is due to the high amount of antioxidants that can heal the skin and prevent the effects of aging.
Some products that we use that are filled with harsh chemicals can strip our skin of nutrients and it’s natural oils. Some shampoos and conditioners can actually cause our hair more harm than good. It’s important to use products that are as natural as possible.
I use coconut oil for many different things, but mainly as a makeup remover and cleanser for my face. I can’t explain how good it is, its the best make up remover I’ve ever used. It removes stubborn makeup in seconds and leaves your skin feeling silky and soft. Simply scoop out some in your hands and rub it all over your face, it will melt as you rub. Use a wet face-washer to wipe off and then rinse thoroughly with water. It’s fantastic because its 100% natural and a whole jar can last ages as you really don’t need much. Best of all it’s so much cheaper than buying a normal cleanser or makeup remover.
I also use coconut oil as a moisturiser and to shave my legs, it’s the best product out there!
Sukin facial foaming cleanser:
If you are to buy a cleanser, this is one I would definitely opt for. All of Sukin’s products are 100% vegan, cruelty free, paraben, sulfite, and harsh ingredient free, even their containers are recyclable. They are also very very affordable. They have such a vast variety of products to meet everyones need. I use this cleanser after I wash my face with coconut oil. It helps to make sure I’ve got it all off and any makeup I may have missed comes off. I also use it to clean my face at the end of the day when I haven’t been wearing makeup but I’ve broken a sweat.
Sukin nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner:
The nourishing version of Sukins shampoos and conditioners is the best. Either that or moisture restoring. They also have a “protein” version but I find it made my hair very dry, and I don’t usually have dry hair. They smell very nice, not too strong like some shampoos, it’s quite subtle which is nice. It’s also the only shampoo and conditioner that had cured my Dad’s very bad dandruff problem that his had for about 8 years. He was using medicated shampoos and this was the only one that worked.
I use coconut old at the ends of my hair as a mask proir to washing it. I leave it in the end for a few hours before going in the shower. I do this every few weeks. My ends feel soft and silky and it can help prevent split ends as the high fat and protein content helps to repair the damage.
Sukin soap free body wash:
I use this in the shower with a face-washer to wash my skin. It also has a soft subtle smell and my skin feels soft afterwards.
This toothbrush is made from bamboo, a natural cellulose fibre. It’s biodegradable, environmentally sustainable, and doesn’t pollute the environment. The amazing growth and self-renewing ability of bamboo means that deforestation is not necessary either. Even the toothbrush packaging is bio-degradable.
The bristles are made from a BPA free polymer resistant to microbial growth during normal use, to ensure safety and durability. It’s a great toothbrush and its cheap only $3.50 compared to $6 for a normal one. It’s so good for the environment and it’s compostable.
Grants herbal and mineral toothpaste:
This toothpaste is fully vegan, fluoride free and contains natural ingredients. It tastes nice and leaves your breath feeling and tasting fresh.
Yes I know Aesop is expensive but I actually received it as a gift. I must say its beautiful. The scent is heavenly, its soft, silky and its cruelty free and vegan. They are based off natural ingredients as well.
Body Crystal- Wildflower scent
This is hands down the best ver deodorant I’ve ever used. Theres no white marks what so ever. The protection it gives when you sweat is fantastic and it smells so nice. It’s vegan, cruelty free and made with natural based ingredients. It’s not expensive wither which is a bonus.
Organic Hemp Seed hand cream
I bought this cream from the Body Shop. Its fantastic, I highly recommend it, especially if your hands are dry. It deeply moisturises your hands like nothing I’ve ever used before. The cream is very thick. My hands felt as soft as silk after just one use. They have never been that soft in my life. You only need the tiniest bit, so it lasts a long time as well. It’s small so you can keep it with you in your bag all the time. Very convenient.
Dry Body brushing:
This is another beauty routine I partake in on a regular basis. Dry body brushing has numerous benefits for your health including:
– Removing dead layers of skin and other outer impurities.
– Stimulates and increases blood circulation.
– Helping to release fatty deposits under your skin’s surface.
– Reduces the appearance of cellulite
– Assisting the eliminative capacity of your body’s organs.
– Rejuvenating your cells.
– Strengthening your immune system.
– Increasing muscle tone.
– Improving skin texture.
– Opens clogged pores
– Helps prevent premature aging.
Your skin is an organ of elimination, just like your kidneys, liver and colon. It’s the largest organ of your body and it’s estimated that one-third of your body’s daily impurities are excreted through the skin. Dry skin brushing helps keep the pores clear and the skin active to assist the body in this cleansing process. If your skin becomes inactive, its ability to remove excess toxins is impaired. This places extra stress on other organs and on your body in general.
As we age, our bodies become less effective in shedding outer layers of dead skin cells. This build-up of dead skin can result in a thick, dry and somewhat leathery look, which is often common with more mature skin. As well as exfoliating this outer layer, dry skin brushing also stimulates the sweat and oil glands, providing more moisture for the skin. It also helps keep young skin fresh, vibrant and free of breakouts. Brush in a circular motion towards your heart in the morning before a shower for best results.
Spin Brush and Facial masks:
Every second week, I recommend cleaning your face using a spin brush. It helps to unblock clogged pores and remove dirt and impurities from your face that have built up from makeup and general, every day pollution that we are exposed to. A facial brush allows the dead skin cells to exfoliate quicker, and from that produce more collagen, and gradually, you get tighter skin. It also removes any oil or debris that’s plugging pores. I am using a spin brush from Vanity Planet and I’ve been seeing great results so far! Just be sure not to overuse the brush! If you use it too often it can actually lead to more breakouts and inflammation (I’m taking about a daily use) so keep it to every fortnight or so! This brush comes with 4 heads. one for cleaning your face, one for exfoliating your face, one for exfoliating your body and another to remove the dead skin off your feet and elbows. It’s very handy and I love it!
Also, every 2-3 weeks I like to do a face mask. This always leaves my skin feeling so fresh and rejuvenated. Face masks can draw impurities from the skin, eliminate dead cells and tighten and tone. It increases hydration- Face mask can also bring moisture and hydration to dry and dehydrated skin types. The water from the mask penetrates deep into the skin epidermis to soften the skin and enhance its elasticity. It also diminishes fine lines- Regular use of face masks can reduce the signs of ageing like fine lines, wrinkles, and brown spots and so on. Also you will get to enjoy a softer and smoother skin texture. Face masks are so easy to apply and you only have to leave them on for 10-15 minutes and then wash it off! I recommend always using one that is natural as possible. I use the “Cupcake fresh” mask from Lush. It handmade fresh and it smells amazing. It’s so fresh that you have to actually keep it in the fridge and it has an expiry date! The link is here if you are interested.
